A San Francisco hospital specializing in cardiac diseases has conducted a study on the effect of intercession and prayer by outsiders on the health conditions of heart patients. Professor Randolph
Byrd proved in the evaluation of the results of this double-blind randomized study that the prayers had a clearly demonstrable effect on selected patients in comparison to a control group.
The prayers
were said by persons who were unknown to the patients and who had no contact to the patients during the entire experiment. Additionally, the prayers were said not in the hospital but at the homes of the
interceders, i.e., at a distance from the hospital . . .
